A strong cold front which passed over NSW coastal Wednesday will continue to bring strong to gale-force west to southwesterly winds in its wake, easing during Thursday.
Winds will ease further and gradually turn south to southwesterly later in the week as a high pressure system drifts across the south of the state, before shifting southwest to southeasterly over the weekend as the high reaches the Tasman Sea.
BOM is warning about dangerous conditions for rockfishing and boating on Thursday and Friday on the Macquarie and Hunter coasts and on Thursday on the Sydney coast, with seas of 3 to 4 metres and 4 to 5 metre southerly swells.
Swell period will be between 5 and 12 seconds.
