The Sportfishing Conservancy is hosting the seventh annual "Conservancies' Classic" in support of the Gaviota Coast Conservancy and their commitment to recreational coastal access.

This is your chance to wet a line, support a great organization and maybe come home with some awesome swag!

On Saturday August 23 the Sportfishing Conservancy and the Gaviota Coast Conservancy will head to Haskell's Beach above Goleta offering a chance to do some great surf/kayak fishing with someone walking away with a new Bass Pro kayak. We'll meet on the beach with set up a little after 6am, then "lines in" starting at 7:00. Fish anywhere, but make it back by 11 in time for the weigh-in.

There will be an optional "Captains Meeting" at 5:45 pm on Friday (8/22) at the new and expanded Hook, Line and Sinker Tackle (2259 Las Positas Road in Santa Barbara). In addition to sign-ups, surf fishing expert Mike Doering will provide valuable local insight into surf fishing the Santa Barbara coast. Trophies to the winner / first 3 places.

Along with the kayak there will be rods and reels and other swag up for grabs with all entrants having a chance of winning.

Note that this is the seventh "Conservancies Classic." I'd like to offer a rousing thanks to all volunteers, with a special nod to GCC's Janet Koed for her continued support.
