Saltwater

  • Swordfish: The odd Sword has been caught at both St Helens and East of Hippolyte Rock. With the weather window this week closed it would be a fantastic weekend to get some baits rigged and ready.

  • Flounder: Good bags of fish have been caught with some very healthy size fish. Tough conditions over the next week may slow things down.

  • Sand Whiting: Good numbers and size fish have been caught off Lower Sandy Bay and the channel. A fantastic table fish well worth targeting.

  • Bream: Good numbers of fish getting caught around Claremont to the Lime Kiln Point in the Derwent. The Bram have been schooled up in good numbers around Cadbury's. The Huon has also been fishing well on flats below Fraklin.

  • Tuna: Barrel and school Bluefin Tuna have fished fairly well over the last week. School fish to 30kg have been fairly common. Fishers deep dropping out wide have caught good fish over 50kg as a by catch. Healthy sized Albacore Tuna have been caught on the shelf off Eagle Hawk.

  • Australian Salmon: Most of the estuaries around Tasmania are still holding Slamon. The Tasman Bridge has been a popular spot with Salmon from 1-2kg caught over the last week.

  • Taylor: The last week has seen some cracker Taylor caught around 50cm in the Derwent around Bellerive Bluff. The lure of choice has been the Gillies Bait fish in 25gr. This time of year normally a few turn up in the Derwent.

  • Calamari: The squid have been a little slow but the odd good-sized model caught along the East Coast and Channel

  • Sea Run Trout: A few smaller fish have been caught from the Tasman Bridge and upstream. Anglers covering the shallows and using both fly and Lure baitfish patterns have been doing fairly well.

Freshwater

With the weather over the last week the fishing has been very slow.
