The SORD crew rolled down to Venice, LA to meet up with SORD Ambassador @joevtfishing to embark on a 24-hour hunt for jumbo yellowfin tuna. This trip had one goal: Find The Big One.
We met up at the Gulf of America Outfitters HQ in Cypress Cove Marina, and were not going to return without a jumbo yellowfin hitting the deck.
We cruised down the Mississippi River delta throwing a cast net to catch mullets for bait, then searched around the shelf on the way offshore, and finally made our run to the Deepwater rigs, where we'd fish through the night.
If you've ever targeted big fish and big fish only, you know it takes unprecedented levels of patience, persistence, and energy drinks to keep pushing until the right one bites. Well we found him. He wouldn't come in the boat without plenty of mishaps, mistakes, and missed fish, but Capt. @joevtfishing is pretty good at finding a way to put them on the deck.
