Florida begins process to implement state management of Red Snapper

by American Sportfishing Association 7 Oct 2025 16:21 UTC

The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) and the recreational fishing community have been frustrated with federal management of red snapper in the South Atlantic for a long time. In a move supported by ASA, Florida will take the initial steps to implement state management of this important recreational fishery.

Beginning October 6, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is hosting a series of public workshops to gain input from anglers on the future of the Atlantic recreational red snapper fishery and potential management measures.

More information on the meeting schedule and how to participate can be found here.
