On August 7, the USDA released a plan to manage invasive catfish populations in the Chesapeake Bay. Secretary Rollins, alongside Congressman Andy Harris (R-MD), announced a $6 million grant program to support blue catfish processing for commercial seafood markets.
Funding distributed through the grant will help businesses comply with inspection requirements, modernize their processing facilities and equipment, while also investing in new technology and worker training to expand the sale of invasive catfish on the seafood market.
