The Santa Barbara Yacht Club has hosted its famous Fiesta Cup Regatta for decades, much to the acclaim of its loyal band of sailors that call SoCal their home.

In addition, this year they added the J/Fest Regatta for their local J/sailors.

Answering that call for two successive weekends of sailing were the very active J/70 fleet and the regional group of J/24 sailors that have been active for nearly a century! Here's how it all shook down after lots of fun in the sun and the usual Santa Barbara YC fabulous, remarkable, amazing hospitality on the beach!

J/70 Class

To summarize what happened over two weekends is quite easy. Winning both the J/Fest and Fiesta Cup class was Ryan Cox's Ventura Yacht Club team on DJ. In both events, the DJ team scored lots of bullets and deuces to win both events!

For the Fiesta Cup, it was Scott Deardorff's crew on CAKE that took second place. The third went to Pat Toole's infamous 3 BIG DOGS crew. For J/Fest, it was Toole's BIG DOGS that took the silver, while Bruce Cooper's NIMBUS was third.

J/24 Class

As she has in decades of J/24 sailing, it was Susie Taylor's TAKE FIVE from California YC that won J/Fest in their class with all bullets! Ugh! Congratulations to her team! Second a few miles back was determined by a tiebreaker!! Wow! At sixteen points each, it was the JEDI Team skippered by Gareth Jones that took the silver medal on count back, while Dan Chepley's ABRACADABRA settling for the bronze medal.
