The California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced the closure of the nearshore groundfish fishery in the Mendocino, San Francisco and Central Management areas.

The closure was established after estimates showed that recreational takes of quillback rockfish have already exceeded 2023 limits. It is set to commence on Friday, September 1st.
