You asked for it and once again DAIWA has delivered - big time. Introducing the NEW Tanacom 800, the latest addition to the company's popular Tanacom series of versatile power assist digital line counter reels.

The Tanacom 800 aims to improve the angling experience while kite fishing, as well as deep dropping and bottom bouncing for monsters of the depths the likes of halibut, snowy grouper, tilefish and more.

The new welterweight champion in its category, the Tanacom 800 is positioned to fill the gap between the renowned Tanacom 1200 and Tanacom 750, retaining the awesome power, ease of operation and super-fast retrieval rate of the stellar Tanacom line in a package that clearly stands out on its own. Saltwater sealed and featuring an astounding 660 yards of 80-pound-test DAIWA J-Braid capacity - 200 yards greater than the Tanacom 750 - it also has a 30-percent faster retrieval rate, sports 20-percent more winding power with a 22 lb. max, and features a beast-taming 50-lb. maximum drag pressure.

"Essentially, the new Tanacom 800 has about two-thirds the line capacity of our largest model in the Tanacom series, the Tanacom 1200. At the same time, it weighs about 5-ounces less and matches or slightly exceeds all other features," says Marc Mills, DAIWA's Senior Marketing Manager. "It incorporates the same motor, same gears and same line pick-up ratio while creating a new sweet spot in our lineup thanks to its lighter weight and smaller profile. It's easy to lift out of the gunnel and move around the boat and really packs a punch for its size - we couldn't be more pleased with its trophy-turning power and overall performance."

Like it's big brother, the Tanacom 800 also has the motor and new gearing hidden inside the spool itself. "That positioning really makes a difference in this reel's amazing abilities," continues Mills. "The new engineering design allows the same dependable motor DAIWA has used with such great success to generate even more power, speed, and efficiency. Combine that with the rigid frame and side-plates, plus repositioned bearings that see less water exposure, and this reel is ready to rock and roll. It's so fast, powerful, smooth and saltwater tough that it can even pull double-duty with swordfish, especially considering its tremendous line capacity."

All this and it's simple to operate with an easy-to-read LED dot screen, plus a sealed electronics package with selectable languages that prompt users through power assist settings and procedures including automatic stop and jigging features. Using the Tanacom 800, anglers can choose to fight fish with the Power Lever and Aluminum Round Knob or let the 12-volt power variable-speed assist do the heavy lifting. When you're done for the day, simply wash down the reel without worrying about wetting the electronics because they are fully sealed.

Getting down to the nitty-gritty, the NEW Tanacom 800 features an incredibly strong, lightweight aluminum body. Its Automatic Tournament Drag (ATD) system uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest but becomes more viscous immediately after drag start-up, reducing initial inertia for smoother drag performance from hook-up through the end game. A Metal Ball Knob Handle provides maximum contact between the handle knob and hand for optional rotation balance and functionality while the reel's Power Lever allows anglers to go from full stop to full power with a flick of a switch. "It's like stepping on the gas pedal to accelerate," says Mills.

Innovative, versatile, and powerful, the easy-to-use NEW Tanacom 800 handles the rigors of targeting heavy hitters be they on the surface or hundreds of feet beneath your keel. And it's available at a knockout price of just $799.99.
