Dangerous fishing conditions Mon 1 Nov 2021

For Monday, the BOM is still warning about large and powerful surf conditions expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

The warning covers the coasts from Byron down to the Illawarra, with seas of 1 to 1.5 metres and southerly swells of 2.5 to 3 metres.

Southeasterly winds will ease and turn northerly as a high pressure system becomes established over the Tasman Sea on Monday. Northerly winds are expected to increase mid-week as a trough approaches from the west.

Weekend just gone alert... October 30/31

A southwest to southerly change is moving up the coast and will reach central parts Friday night and further north Saturday morning. A high will move across southeast Australia in its wake, becoming established in the Tasman Sea on Monday.

For Saturday, from the Coffs coast down to Eden, BOM has issued alerts for large and powerful surf conditions that are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing. Seas will be 2 metres in northern areas but 3 to 4 metres around Batemans and Eden. Mixed swells will range between 2 to 5 metres on all coasts...a mixture of southerly and north easterly.

For Sunday, from the Macquarie coast down to Eden, BOM has also issued alerts for large and powerful surf conditions that are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing. Seas on most of those coasts will be around 1 to 1.5 metres (3 metres around Eden) and there will be southerly 3 metre swells.

Conditions look to be easing after the weekend. Funny how often that happens.
