Rosehill Trailer Boat Show - Wrap up

In April, the Boating Industry Association Ltd's Rosehill Trailer Boat Show returned to its previous home at Rosehill Racecourse, and by all accounts it was a success measured in enquiries, sales and enthusiasm from both dealers, exhibitors and visitors.

The show has the longest history over any other in the state having started in the early sixties alongside the Silverwater Speedboat Club and accompanying races on Parramatta River. It has enjoyed its fair share of locations over the years that have included Parramatta Park, Sydney Showgrounds and of course Rosehill Gardens.

After a pause in 2017, trailer boat dealers indicated an interest in staging the trailer boat show again at Rosehill. It did so this year with much success.

37 exhibitors participated covering around 8,000 m2 of space.

Small groups arrived early, prior to the 10AM opening on both the Saturday and Sunday, resulting in a then steady of stream of visitors through the turnstiles. 4,535 attended over the two days (2,036 on the Saturday and 2,499 on the Sunday). Head counts were undertaken at the main entrance, adjacent to the railway station, but given the configuration of the venue, small numbers of people did enter via other locations and as such they were not counted. During some periods of the day, particularly around lunchtime, visitors stood shoulder to shoulder in the corridors, with boats filling the fully occupied floor plan.

Ian Tricker of TR Marine said, "Whilst the event is small compared to the Sydney International Boat Show, the importance to dealers should not be underestimated. Sales at the show and immediately after give us the bounce we need into the winter months. The show was a great success for us and we urge the BIA to ensure it remains on the calendar in future years."

Returning to the Rosehill facility provided a welcoming and warm atmosphere, and discussions are already underway to seek future dates within the Easter and racing carnival that suit.
