Trelly's Weekly Fishing Report - July 18, 2025

by Trellys 21 Jul 06:32 UTC

Goulburn River

There's still plenty of time to get out and catch some Murray cray this cray season!

We've gone through quite a few cray nets so far this season, and with plenty of families purchasing in hopes of landing a few keepers, our stock is slowly depleting. Be sure to jump in and grab 4 for $65 before they're gone.

Crusoe Reservoir and Lake Neangar

Now that school holidays are here, there are plenty of young fishos wanting to get out and catch a few fish. In perfect timing, Victorian Fisheries released 500 trout each into two of our most popular waterholes in Bendigo last week. This is great news for anyone local who doesn't want to travel too far for a decent fish these school holidays!

If you're heading to these spots for trout, we suggest dropping into the store to pick up some Berkley PowerBait or live worms, and throw them out using small circle hooks. These hooks are more likely to lip-hook the fish rather than gut-hook, helping ensure a safe and healthy release.

If you're planning to throw a few lures, we also recommend stopping in. We have a wide variety of trout lures in stock, including Daiwa Silvercreek spinners, Tassie Devils, and Rapala Rap lures.

Lake Eppalock

Lake Eppalock is still holding at around 56% capacity and is likely to remain steady following the light showers we had last week.

The lake has been a little busier than usual due to the school holidays, so consider finding quieter areas where fish are less likely to be spooked by passing boats.

Try fishing the 8-10m depth range. Redfin are most likely to hit bait at those depths, and you might even pick up the occasional yellowbelly.

For lure fishos, try jigging soft plastics and vibe lures in deeper water. RMG Poltergeists have been popular in-store, as have the Zerek Fishtraps, which have gained popularity this past week. Try colours like purple or green/gold.

Campaspe River

Rain across the region hasn't really affected water height and flow in the Campaspe this week. It's still sitting around the 1.8-metre mark, with flows hovering around 147 ML/day.

This week we got some awesome photos from fisho Bailey here who pulled two cod walking the banks. These catches were pulled on some hardbody Predator lures so if you're heading out maybe try the same or if the structures right a few spinners, and around sunrise and sunset a surface lure or two.

Bait fishers are still finding success using grubs and chicken, especially in the deeper sections and bends. With ongoing rainfall, be sure to pack a variety of sinker weights to match the flow.

Loddon River

Flow rates in the Loddon are currently sitting at around 350 ML/day, with river height holding near 0.45 metres.

As with the Campaspe, spinnerbaits and trolled hardbodies are still the go-to, particularly upstream near Serpentine, where fishos have seen decent results. The Bridgewater section has been quieter, but it's always worth flicking around the edges and known structure.

If bait fishing is more your style, grubs or chicken continue to be reliable baits for landing a few nice cod.

Cairn Curran Reservoir

Cairn Curran is still sitting at around 38% capacity. We're still hearing reports of fishos catching cod below the wall using spinnerbaits and surface lures, but the main body of the reservoir remains pretty quiet overall.

If you're planning to give it a go, focus on trolling medium-depth hardbody lures (6-8m).

Downstream along the Loddon, spinnerbaits are a solid option. Our Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal on the old-colour Bassman Codman spinnerbaits is still running, so now's a good time to stock up if you're running low.
