St. Francis Yacht Club and US Sailing have opened registration for the second annual US Wingfoil Championship, to be held in San Francisco, California, June 20-22, 2025.

St. Francis Yacht Club has been at the forefront of the sport's development, with a growing number of members and locals participating in wingfoil events and competing in the club's weekly wingfoiling series, held throughout the summer. They offer wingfoil courses for junior sailors and hosted the first National Championship in 2024 and the first Pacific Coast Championship in 2023.

"We are thrilled to once again host the 2025 US Wingfoil Championship, bringing together the best wingfoil athletes from across the nation." said Felix Weidling, Race Director of St. Francis Yacht Club. "This event showcases the incredible skill, speed and agility of wingfoiling, and we look forward to an exciting competition on the beautiful waters of San Francisco Bay. This sport is growing fast and I believe that we will see wingfoiling in the 2032 Olympics, so it's important to have high level competitions now."

This championship will give the best wingfoil athletes a national platform to showcase their skills before an American audience. Competitors will be tested by various racing formats, from short course buoy and slalom racing in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge, to distance racing on a multiple mile course spanning San Francisco Bay, from Crissy Field to the Berkeley Pier.

On Thursday, June 19, the day prior to the official start of competition, StFYC will also host a Global Wingsports Association (GWA) Surf-Freestyle event. Designed to showcase the highest levels of trick performance and expression, competitors will battle in heats performing a variety of air moves and surfing waves, with judges scoring their best tricks. The winner of this event will receive a GWA Wild Card, granting them entry to any Surf-Freestyle event within the next 12 months.

Besides competition, sailors will enjoy post-racing socials hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club at their beautiful City Front location and a gear testing festival featuring wingfoil brands, including title sponsor F4 Foils.

"We are proud to be the title sponsor of the 2025 Wingfoil Championship. At F4 Foils, we are dedicated to designing and manufacturing high-performance foils, boards and wings for windfoiling, wingfoiling and surf foiling," said Memo Michailov, CEO of F4 Foils. "Our products are renowned for their speed, stability and smooth ride, making them a favorite among both recreational riders and competitive athletes. We are committed to precision craftsmanship and innovation, ensuring unmatched control and performance."

The event format allows competitors to bring their own equipment and welcomes all boards, foils and wings that conform to the Wingfoil Open Class rules. The championship is open to anyone—there is no selection process—and participants may race in Under 19, Master (35+) and Grandmaster (50+) age categories. Men's and Women's champions will be awarded for best overall and for the distance race, the San Francisco Bay Challenge.

"I am excited to once again bring this event to San Francisco Bay, Crissy Field and St. Francis Yacht Club," said Geoff Headington, the club's event chair and a competitor. "We expect to see competitors, their family and friends, spectators and other enthusiasts fully immerse themselves into all things wingfoiling during the week of activities, which will include racing, freestyle exhibitions, gear testing, a beach barbeque and other fun social events. We will also allocate time to update competitors on the current wingfoil rules and reflect on the evolution of our sport with interesting talks and panels. Don't miss this year's Wingding!"

Registration is currently open, with late fees beginning after May 27.
