North America's largest indoor boat show has wrapped for its 67th year. The 2025 Toronto International Boat Show returned to the Enercare Centre in January, introducing a new nine-day show in response to exhibitor feedback, industry consultation, and data insights from visitor surveys.
Alongside expanded features, more seminars, and new initiatives such as extending shopping hours until 10pm on Late Night Thursday, attendance remained strong over a shorter run of show, topping at 55,114 visitors (compared to 60,125 in 2024 over a ten-day show).
At the show the NMMA Canada hosted its annual Industry Breakfast, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and boating enthusiasts to highlight the state of the Canadian recreational boating industry. The event featured several presentations, including an economic update from Nick Bennenbroek of Wells Fargo, a political landscape overview by Susan Smith of BlueSky Strategies, and an update on Discover Boating from NMMA's Kevin Williams.
The American Sports Fishing industry is keeping an eye on tariffs. Over the past week, President Trump announced various tariff actions on Canada, Mexico and China. Following conversations with the respective leaders of each country, the previously announced 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico were delayed until March 4, while 10% tariffs on China remain in place.
Sail America, the trade association for the U.S. sailing industry, welcomed six new members to its 2025 board of directors. All are elected through the association's standard election process. A nominating committee submits candidate names to association members, who then vote anonymously on the names put forward. All board members serve for three years.
New Products announced this week. Avikus, HD Hyundai's autonomous navigation technology developer, announced today that its innovative smart navigation and docking solution - NEUBOAT Dock - which takes the stress out of docking by offering increased situational awareness - has been re-engineered and is now offered as NEUBOAT Dock II, laying the groundwork for future automation.
