From 29 November to 1 December 2024, the who's who of the angling scene came together at Europe's leading exhibition for angling and sport fishing. International exhibitors, the latest trends and stars of the industry inspired sport and leisure anglers from all over Germany and filled the exhibition halls.
Angling has long since developed from a niche sport into a trend - at the latest since Angling World Berlin, the hobby has experienced a new hype that is inspiring more and more people: Europe's largest angling fair closed on 1 December - bigger, more diverse and more international. With a fully booked 18,000 square metres of exhibition space - more than double the previous year's - the show experienced its strongest growth since its inception in 2007, with a record number of exhibitors and even more international than in 2023: exhibitors from countries such as Japan, Brazil, Finland, the USA, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Turkey presented their brands, latest products and innovations. The show attracted amateur and sports anglers, beginners and professionals of all ages from all over Germany to the exhibition halls under the Radio Tower.
'ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has impressively proven that it is Europe's leading platform for the trendy topic of angling,' says a delighted Felix Steinacker, Head of ANGLING WORLD BERLIN. 'With a 25 per cent increase in exhibitors compared to the previous year, numerous new international exhibitors, the successful launch of the EFTTA ANGLING SUMMIT and an unrivalled range of brands and products, the trade fair broke all records - underpinning its role as THE meeting place for the industry. This is where strong brands meet the stars of the scene, and the growing demand shows: Berlin is the place-to-be for fishing fans.'
EFTTA ANGLING SUMMIT: Successful premiere of the international B2B summit meeting
One of the trade fair highlights was the premiere of the EFTTA ANGLING SUMMIT - and thus the launch of the B2B segment - which took place in cooperation with the European Fishing Tackle & Trade Association (EFTTA) one day before the official opening of the trade fair on 28 November. More than 100 representatives from the industry, politics and associations attended the international fishing industry summit to discuss industry developments, updates on regulations and laws as well as future challenges. The high-calibre panels and the subsequent 'Dinner & Networking Night' provided an excellent opportunity for professional exchange and networking within the industry.
Three halls full of highlights and premieres and satisfied exhibitors
Over 49,500 visitors came to BOAT & FUN BERLIN this year, as well as to the associated trade fairs ANGLING WORLD BERLIN, AUTO CAMPING CARAVAN, OFFROAD BERLIN and Transporter Days Berlin. As a popular meeting place for the international angling scene, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN offered innovative concepts and focal points that appealed to angling professionals and beginners alike. For the first time, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN presented the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), a hall focussing specifically on high-quality fishing tackle from Japan. From ADUSTA and SHIMANO to ZIPBAITS, numerous renowned brands presented their products. In the newly designed sea fishing forum, fishing fans learnt all about the fishing hotspots of the world's oceans and received tips and tricks on all aspects of big game fishing, sea fishing and international fishing trips. The new fishing boat hall also impressed with a wide selection of fishing kayaks, inflatable boats and ultra-modern tour name boats from leading brands such as Finnwal, Crestliner, Powerboot, Nitro and Suzuki Marine.
Fabian Kraft, founder of Nippon-Tackle, was delighted with this year's edition: 'We really went big this year with a stand covering more than 400 square metres and a huge selection of Japanese brands. We had a lot of international visitors, dealers and customers from Sweden, Switzerland and Austria. It is simply the mega trade fair, not only for end customers, but now also for the specialised trade. We hope that this will continue in the coming years and that the sport of fishing will be promoted in Germany.'
Kim Ebey, International Sales Manager, White River Marine Group, also gave a positive assessment: 'This is the second time I have travelled here from America to support my brand. I've been to other big fishing shows, for example in France - but this show is really first class, a gold standard event. It offers a lot of networking opportunities, especially if you come as an OEM - because we build Ranger Boats, Tracker Boats and some of the other brands that are represented here. It's the ideal environment to support dealers, meet with engine and motor builders and network. The whole atmosphere is just ideal. And people are happy to be in a pure fishing environment. That makes it really special! And that it's taking place on such a large scale in Europe - I was really impressed.'
Popular brands such as Abu Garcia, Adusta, Adventer, Berkley, Campingaz, Colmic, Delalande, Delphin, DOMETIC, DUO International, G. Loomis, Garmin, GURZA, Livingston Lures, LMAB, Major Craft, Mikado, Molix, Navico, Nays Baits, Patagonia, PENN, Plano, Relax Lures, Shimano, Salty Crew, Sportex, Stroft, TAIL WALK, Westin, Yeti and Zeck Fishing presented trends, products and innovations for angling and sport fishing. The offer was complemented by a varied programme on stages such as the show stage of the German Angling Federation (DAFV) and event areas as well as interactive offers at the stands. The next edition will take place from 28 to 30 November 2025.
