Aboard the Excel Sportfishing vessel out of San Diego, CA, on a 10-Day Trip, angler Earl Gill IV has set a pending IGFA world record with a massive 443-pound yellowfin tunapotentially surpassing the current record by over 15 pounds! The catch was made using Okumas Makaira 20 Size 2-speed Lever Drag Reel and 100-pound test line, with chunk bait.
This giant yellowfin was caught on Okumas Makaira Black Series reel, which features a silver-etched yellowfin tuna on its framea perfect match for the historic catch. The Makaira has long been known for its toughness, innovation, and raw power, and this catch only reinforces its legendary reputation.
