The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is excited to announce the launch of its newest tournament, the 2025 IGFA Open, which will take place from March 13-15, 2025, in Quepos, Costa Rica.

Held at the world-renowned Marina Pez Vela, this tournament promises exciting competition in one of the most productive billfish fisheries in the world.

The 2025 IGFA Open will follow Costa Rica's traditional release format, with anglers earning points for blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, and sailfish. Trophies will be awarded based on release points, as well as for the heaviest catches of yellowfin tuna, dolphinfish, and wahoo, ensuring a competitive yet fun experience for anglers of all skill levels.

"Costa Rica's rich fishing heritage and unmatched billfish fishery make it the perfect backdrop for the IGFA Open," said IGFA President Jason Schratwieser. "We are excited to host this tournament during the peak season, providing anglers an opportunity to showcase their talents while contributing to critical conservation efforts."

Entry for the 2025 IGFA Open is set at $5,000 per team, which includes a $1,500 donation directly supporting IGFA's global billfish conservation programs which may be tax-deductible. Participants will also have the option to increase the stakes by entering optional jackpots, which will be operated independently by CatchStat.com, the leading provider of fishing tournament live scoring software.

A Captain's Meeting will take place on March 13, followed by two fishing days on March 14 and 15. An awards ceremony will follow the final day of fishing at Marina Pez Vela. The IGFA encourages early registration, as this tournament is expected to draw a strong field of anglers from around the world.
