At just 17, Matias Raponi has already left his mark on the fishing world—and on the future of billfish conservation.

Inspired by his love of the ocean, Matias raised funds to sponsor and deploy satellite tags on billfish through the IGFA Great Marlin Race, the largest program of its kind.

The IGFA Great Marlin Race, our cornerstone conservation initiative, has revolutionized our understanding of billfish migration and habitat since its launch in 2011. With over 600 satellite tags deployed worldwide, the program's data helps scientists, anglers, and policymakers secure the future of these iconic species.
