OneSails partners with Women's Racing and Mentorship Program (RAMP)

by OneSails Perth 15 Sep 20:19 UTC

OneSails is proud to announce a new partnership with the Fremantle Sailing Club Women's Racing and Mentorship Program (RAMP).

It is aimed at getting more women on the water who are new to sailing or who are currently active sailors and looking to improve their sailing skills. The program acquired the use of a Melges 24 in 2022 and have been using the boat for both training and racing at regattas around Western Australia. In 2023 RAMP was the proud winner of the Australian Sailing SheSails Award which recognises an outstanding contribution, promotion and/or administration of female participation in sailing.

OneSails has provided a new mainsail, jib and spinnaker which will be used for training and participation in several inshore races and regattas in Western Australia.

OneSails Australia Director Paul Eldrid quoted "We are invested in sailing at grass roots level and have enjoyed a strong connection with youth sailing for over 20 years. The opportunity to strengthen and enhance the RAMP Program fits well with our quest of matching the next generation of sailors with the next generation of sails".

Amanda Casebier, one of the founders of the RAMP program commented "RAMP are delighted to receive this generous sponsorship from Paul Eldrid and the team at OneSails. Paul has been a long-term supporter of youth development in sailing and this initiative also encourages participation by women of all ages who are underrepresented in the demographic of our sport. The RAMP team have delivered some great results sailing the Melges 24 combining podium finishes with broad participation across the group. This helps us fulfil some of our core objectives of encouraging more women onto the water while also developing racing skills. With new next generation best-in-class racing sails from OneSails things can only get better."

Fremantle Sailing Club Vice Commodore Anthony Kirke added "The RAMP program is a key part of Fremantle Sailing Clubs drive to increase participation in sailing at all levels and has had immediate success encouraging more female participation at the club in a range of sailing activities.

The program is run by volunteers with funds they raise so it is really great to see Paul Eldrid of OneSails, a long time sponsor of FSC, get behind this program with a new set of sails for the Melges 24.

Paul through OneSails contributes significant time and resources to encourage the development of sailing across many clubs so it is really pleasing that he has identified RAMP as a program with potential and thrown his support behind this dedicated group."
