The National Women's Sailing Association (NWSA) comes to the Crescent City with the 2024 National Women’s Sailing Association Conference on Saturday, June 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Southern Yacht Club with help from Community Sailing New Orleans. The all-day event welcomes women sailors of all levels and ages to workshops including the popular "Take the Helm" track — an introduction to sailing for women. A sailing scholarship fundraising mixer will be held after the conference to continue networking.

Programming includes a full day of classroom, dockside and on-the-water workshops taught by experienced female instructors and captains from across the country. Sailors can fine-tune their spinnaker sail trim skills, practice navigation using paper and electronic charts, learn how to recover a crew overboard with a Lifesling rescue device, and more. Breakfast and lunch are provided as well as a cocktail social hour.

A highlight of the event is the announcement and presentation of the 2024 BoatUS/NWSA Leadership in Women’s Sailing Award. The annual award recognizes an individual with a record of achievement in inspiring, educating and enriching the lives of women through sailing.

Some of the event's sponsors include BoatUS, Offshore Sailing School, Louisiana Sailing School and Mantus Marine.

Early-bird registration opens Sunday, March 16, and offers the best registration value. After April 14, general registration rates apply. Details can be found on womensailing.org. For more information, email or call (985) 247-8919.
