270 sailors will take to the water to compete at Sun Hung Kai & Co. Hong Kong Race Week 2024, incorporating the 2024 29er Asian Championship this week in Hong Kong. 10 countries and regions will be represented including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong (China), Ireland, Japan, Macau (China), Mainland China, Singapore, Thailand and the USA. Running from 31 January to 4 February, a great week of fierce competition is expected from this talented group of sailors from Asia and beyond.

Organised by Hong Kong Sailing Federation in conjunction with Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (and for the 2024 29er Asian Championship, the International 29er Class Association), racing will be conducted from Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club's Middle Island water sports training centre on the south side of Hong Kong Island.

Raced in 10 classifications over three racecourses, the regatta is held on Hong Kong's renowned world class racetracks, which have previously played host to the 2023 29er Asian championship, 2018 29er World Championship, the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race # Leg 4 Stopover, the 2017 Optimist Asian & Oceania Championship and the 2015 Etchells World Championship.

Sun Hung Kai & Co. Hong Kong Race Week Chairman, Peter Davies commented that "Hong Kong Race Week is now entering its second decade, having been established in 2014 with a vision to emulate similar large scale multiple class youth dinghy regattas staged in other parts of the world such as Sydney, Miami and Kiel. After a three-year break during Covid, the regatta returned last year. For 2024 the entry list has swelled to over 230 boats, with very strong interest coming from the Mainland of China, where there is recognition of the high quality of the event. This expansion has for the first time has been facilitated by the transportation of boats across the border from neighbouring clubs in the Greater Bay Area.

In the ILCA6 class, aspiring Olympians Nancy Highfield and Stephanie Norton will continue to battle it out, while in the 29er class Emily Polson and Tiffany Man will renew their rivalry with Cameron Law and Christopher Lam, as their younger brothers Raphael Mak and Louis Polson try to get in amongst the spoils."
