Spanish Mackerel second northern closure
by The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries 13 Nov 2023 08:09 UTC
The second of this year's Spanish Mackerel northern closures began on Friday, 10 November and runs until 11.59pm on 1 December.
The closure applies to east coast waters north of latitude 22°S — located slightly north of Stanage Bay (indicated in the shaded blue area on the map).
Just a reminder that fishers are no longer permitted to possess Spanish Mackerel taken outside of closed waters if they enter closed waters during seasonal closures.
Compliance with the new rules has been of a high standard and we thank fishers for their efforts to abide by them.
