MOJO23 release and Tasmanian Fishing Report - 3rd November 2023

by Spot On Fishing Hobart 5 Nov 2023 21:11 UTC
This years Movember lure - The MOJO23. Available in store now © Spot On Fishing Hobart

The MOJO23 is here

Like every year 100% of the proceed for this lure are donated to Movember. Last year you helped us donate $17,179 to Movember by purchasing the MOJO22. This year the colour scheme was a group effort by the guys at Wigston's Lures. This purple and gold colour scheme is a favourite among many anglers...and definately for a reason. It works! It was a personal favourite colour of the late Matty Pace who worked at Spot On Hobart for many years too.

A huge thanks to Wigston's for supporting this again.

Buy one in store now, but more importantly get out and use it.

Tuna
A few good bluefin tuna have been caught over the last few weeks. Skirts such as the Meridian XXX have been working well. Large schools of bait have been seen

Squid
Continue to be closed in the east coast zone, but good numbers of fish are being caught in the channel and Bruny island region

Australian Salmon
Good numbers of salmon up to 2kg have been caught lately with halco and gillies minnows in 10-30g being the most popular. Fish have been caught as far south as Southport and as far north as Swansea with port Arthur, storm bay and Frederick henry bay also hot spots.

Mackerel
Continued reports of mackerel being caught in the Derwent and pirate's bay.

Bream still showing signs of being in spawn mode with people finding them schooled up in large schools. Browns river, prosser river, little swanport (upper region), swan river (upper region) and Lauderdale canal are all hot spots at the moment. Lightly weighted soft plastics and vibes are proving the most effective way to catch these fish.

Freshwater

Bronte, Brady's
Reports of some nice rainbows being caught in Brady's chain on Powerbait lately from the shore while boats trolling Tasmanian Devils have been doing well also. Bronte has been excellent for fly fishing with lots of fish seen tailing around the shores. Small brown nymphs and 007s proving effective.

Echo
Echo remains high and clear with fishing being nothing short of exceptional. Good numbers of fish cruising the shore have been polaroided with all methods of fishing proving very effective.
