13 Laser helms came to this event with four being from other than the host club. They were greeted by sunny conditions but a gusty SW to SSW wind.

The wind picked up a fair chop which the few who tried the D rig had difficulty in cutting through the waves. For most of the time the fleet settled for the C rig and hoped to survive the occasional wipe out in the gusts. This did result in a fair bit of rudder waving in the air with the chance of totally rounding up ever present.

The course was changed a couple of times due to the changing wind direction but made easy for the helms by using the same lettered buoys throughout. Shaun Holbeche showed his mastery of the conditions from the start with 12 first places from the 21 races giving him 30 points overall. Lawrie Draper was the highest placed local, managing 5 first places and 41 points overall to finish second.

Within the rest of the fleet there were many changes of fortune. Surprisingly there were very few breakages and they were minor with only two helms suffering from electrical/radio problems.

Very tired sailors gathered for the prize-giving when the organiser and catering staff were thanked by the visitors before they departed clutching their prizes for the day.

With a race within a race for the Johnson family The wind was blowing from the clubhouse direction for the ten RC Laser entries. It looked to be a stock 'B' rig all-dayer, but with the light patch at the entry point, a bit of extra sail cloth helps you get through the lulls. Posted on 6 Oct

With the wind forever increasing in strength a couple of 'D' rigs were brought out The showers had just about died out on arrival, to leave us with a nice Blowy Westerly. No need for the big sails today and it was a decider for the next 2 sail sizes, giving us a mix for the first couple of races. Posted on 18 Jun

No question on rig size - the smallest D rigs were chosen For today's racing the wind was very much in the upper numbers. The forecast was for it to drop but with 20 - 25 knits and direction NW. No question on rig size - the smallest D rig. Posted on 27 Mar

Course allows boats to be closer than normal and with more possible infringements The Race Team using the wind direction of SE and 8 knots speed set a narrow course with a wing mark to form the triangle for the triangle sausage format. This effectively gave two downwind legs, a reach along the leeward end of the course and two beats. Posted on 27 Feb
