With a forecast predicting rain for most of the day, we were pleasantly surprised to arrive at the lakeside and still not a drop of rain. A westerly breeze and the few remaining large sails were put aside after practice, to join the rest with 'B' rigs, bar one for the first race.

We had a good turnout with 11 Skippers including the Johson clan and Newbie Laser Skipper Paul Fishwick. For the full length of the lake sailing, we had lots of good beating to the top end for the 2 little red Marks, down to the clubhouse and finish between the middle 2 yellows, all taken to Port.

It was very competitive at the sharp end, with 2 multiple National RC Laser champions to lead the battle and to race against.

By lunch we had sailed 7 good races and still remained dry as the big black clouds seemed to circle Fleetwood out to sea and around the Fylde.

14 races in total and some good interaction and challenging bouts throughout the day and now a nice full lake brimming to the top, thanks to our Eric with top up duties, ready for next weekend's bumper IOM Open Ranking event at Fleetwood.

Thanks to Trevor for the scores and Race Officer duties.

Results:

With a race within a race for the Johnson family The wind was blowing from the clubhouse direction for the ten RC Laser entries. It looked to be a stock 'B' rig all-dayer, but with the light patch at the entry point, a bit of extra sail cloth helps you get through the lulls. Posted on 6 Oct

With the wind forever increasing in strength a couple of 'D' rigs were brought out The showers had just about died out on arrival, to leave us with a nice Blowy Westerly. No need for the big sails today and it was a decider for the next 2 sail sizes, giving us a mix for the first couple of races. Posted on 18 Jun

Course allows boats to be closer than normal and with more possible infringements The Race Team using the wind direction of SE and 8 knots speed set a narrow course with a wing mark to form the triangle for the triangle sausage format. This effectively gave two downwind legs, a reach along the leeward end of the course and two beats. Posted on 27 Feb
