Yellowfin wins the Big O Enduro
In case you missed it, Yellowfin participated in The Big O Enduro earlier this month and won the inaugural race! The Yellowfin Team consisted of Jason Joule and Joey Masseo, who took their 17' skiff from the famous Tarpon Lodge in Pineland through the Caloosahatchee River, across Lake Okeechobee, and through the St. Lucie River, down the Atlantic, around the Everglades and up the Gulf Coast until they reached Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille in St. Pete. Thanks to all who supported and participated in this awesome event! Read below for first-hand insight from Team Yellowfin.
"I just wanted to go fast, and that's what we did. The throttle never lifted off the dash. It was a great experience running through the locks and experiencing Lake O first-hand. It was a different race this year compared to the traditional Florida Skiff Challenge, and the course allowed us to group back up while waiting for the locks. It was nice, for a change, to be able to see familiar faces and talk smack to one another while still racing. The overnight stays at Gilbert's in past races had allowed the fatigue to set in on our minds and bodies, while this year, we were glad to just keep on racing past that checkpoint without having to stop and sleep. Running the backwaters of Everglades National Park was absolutely beautiful, and the trip through Lake Ingraham, which was a new experience for me, was phenomenal as well. We gave it our all and were fortunate to be running the best-built boat on Earth, and that's what got us across the finish line first."-Jason Joule, Team Yellowfin
"With it being my first year participating in a race like this, I kind of had an idea of what it would be like - but boy was I wrong. The toll it takes on one's body and mind running a 17' skiff 700+ miles is quite surprising. Running through the state was a very cool experience, but it, more importantly, made us realize why we were doing this in the first place. The water quality we saw was disturbing, to say the least, as seen in the videos we captured. As far as the actual race goes - what did you expect? We're Yellowfin, so there was no way we were going to lose. Our boat handled the chop so well that we were passing larger center consoles running down the Atlantic like it was nothing. Yellowfin is now has a 1-0 record in The Big O Enduro, and we plan on making it 2-0 next year."-Joey Masseo, Team Yellowfin
Come see us at the SoFlo Boat Show
Another boat show in Miami? You betcha! The SoFlo Boat Show is set to take place May 19-21 and is sure to provide a different experience than traditional shows. Located at the Miami Marine Stadium, the site of past Miami International Boat Shows, this venue offers prime in-water space to showcase the latest and greatest in the marine industry. We'll be teaming up with The Boat Center of Miami (boatcentermiami.com), our dealer for Miami through Islamorada, to provide the show's guests with multiple Yellowfins on display.
