Australian bass and estuary perch closure

The annual closure for Australian bass and estuary perch is in place as of Monday, 1 May 2023.

Anglers are reminded that the annual zero bag limit for Australian bass and estuary perch commences Monday, 1 May 2023, and runs through to 31 August 2023.

This closure provides protection for these key sportfish species as they migrate towards salt water for spawning. Australian bass and estuary perch are a commercially protected species and as such commercial fishers are prohibited from retaining or selling Australian bass and estuary perch.

If any suspected illegal activity is witnessed, the public are urged to contact the Fishers Watch Phoneline on 1800 043 536 or via the online report form.
