A high over the Bight is moving east, reaching Tasmania by Saturday and the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. This system will extend a ridge across most of NSW, with winds gradually tending east to southeasterly.
Fresh to strong southwesterly winds will persist in the south Friday in the wake of the departing cold front.
This high system is already starting to affect our fishing/boating safety.
On Friday on the entire NSW coast seas will be 1.5 metres plus southerly swell of 3 metres.
On Saturday, the Byron, Coffs and Macquarie coasts will have seas of 2 metres and southerly swells of 3 metres.
For those locations, on those days, BOM is warning that large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
