Reporting to the CEO this position is the lead sales role focusing on B2B sales to recreational boating manufacturers for the company's BOAT01, and sales of our new Shark Barrier LR1000 to state / local governments and private resorts. The role involves the development of a pipeline of these opportunities through alignment with the existing channels that hold customers with potential, for example boat chandleries, and leads generated through trade shows and marketing campaigns.

In this position you are responsible for taking the lead on response or proactive proposal development for specific opportunities, ensuring quality proposal documentation with company wide support. This involves managing the development and implementation of the win strategy, mobilizing the required Ocean Guardian or channel resources, leading the team allocated to develop the solution and proposal and defining the partnering approach to ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement and endorsement.

As a highly motivated business development manager you will focus on growing revenue through new customer acquisition. Through careful sales planning you will identify and close new opportunities and work with both internal resources and external business partners to deliver solutions that will address the customer's shark mitigation requirements. You will be required to prepare proposals, negotiate contracts and work in local and international markets.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy for new business acquisition in the recreational vessel markets and shark barrier markets
  • Providing accurate sales forecasting to management
  • Negotiate supply contracts and service level agreements with new customers
  • Proactively work with relevant government bodies in identifying shark mitigation opportunities
  • Provide constructive feedback to the management team for the development of marketing strategies and new products
  • Maximise customer satisfaction
  • Work with internal support
  • Pro-actively work with channel partners in providing a complete solution

Performance Metrics:

  • Product sales revenue
  • Gross margin contribution
  • Quota achievement
  • Forecast accuracy

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years business-to-business sales experience in marine technology related products
  • Have worked in the recreational, resources and/or commercial marine markets
  • Have a proven track record in value driven sales
  • Be highly motivated with the ability to work autonomously as well as within a team
  • Possess high-level negotiation skills and business acumen
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the offshore ocean marine environment
  • The ability to communicate and present to executive and board level
  • Experience and/or understanding of Occupational Health and Safety is desirable
  • Have a business and/or marketing degree or equivalent
