Expired marine flares disposal

by NSW Maritime 20 Dec 2021 21:53 UTC

Most marine flares have a use-by date of three years and must be replaced before the expiry date. Flares contain explosive matter which makes safe and legal disposal difficult.

The Maritime Branch manages an expired marine flares disposal program with collection sites across the state to help you safely get rid of your expired flares.

The first round starts on 7 January at Kennedy Drive Boat Ramp on the north coast, with collection points along the east cost, ending at Bellambi Boat Ramp on the south coast on 14 January 2022.

The program includes a second round in April and a third in June. Please check your flares and make the most of this service! Read more for collection locations, dates and times.
