After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, Jubilee Yacht Club (JYC) is proud to be hosting the North Sails Snipe North American Championship in Beverly, MA from September 10-12, 2021. Beverly is located 17 miles northeast of Boston, adjacent to the historic witches of Salem and fishermen of Gloucester. Wind will be from east to southeast at 6-10 knots. Sea breezes and tricky tidal currents are sure to challenge all competitors.

JYC was founded in 1896 and has a membership of nearly 500 diverse members (nearly 360 boats), 70% living within 10 miles of the club. JYC has hosted numerous one-design regattas including 13 regional and national Snipe regattas, most recently the Snipe Nationals in 2019 with 51 boats competing. JYC has many activities including cruising, racing, fishing tournaments, social events, and involvement in charity events. We also host the Sandy Point Sailing School for children and adults, and the Beverly High School Sailing Team.

Snipes are one of the largest and oldest one-design classes in the world. Over 30,800 Snipes have been registered by SCIRA in thirty countries. Founded in 1931, the Snipe class celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2016.

North Sails Snipe North American Championship is open to any Snipe sailor. Shan McAdoo, Captain of Fleet 554 says, "The event organizers and the class leadership are committed to getting any and all interested sailors on the water in competitive boats. We invite you to join us." We anticipate a fleet of over 40 boats vying for this Championship - with over 80 sailors and other attendees. The winner will qualify for the 2022 Snipe World Championship. Participants will include world-class sailors from all over the US and the world. Local high school & and other novice sailors are also encouraged to compete in this exciting event as a fantastic learning experience.

Unless limited due to local or club Covid restrictions, participants will also enjoy a variety of on-shore events over the 3 days with food, entertainment, housing, a Silent Auction, and the camaraderie of other sailors, Jubilee Members, guests, and sponsors.
