The Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China in conjunction with co-organisers, the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, International Dragon Association and the Hong Kong Dragon Association, are pleased to announce that the 2027 Dragon World Championship will take place from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 November 2026.

The first International Dragon World Championship to be held in Asia will see some of the best sailors from around the world competing on Hong Kong's renowned world-class racetracks.

Predicted to be one of the largest and most eagerly anticipated World Championships for the International Dragon Class in many years, more than 90 yachts have registered interest in joining this highly coveted event, with 250 plus sailors expected to descend upon Hong Kong in November 2026.

Racing will take place near the Ninepins Group of Islands off Clear Water Bay, east of Hong Kong, which offers uninterrupted offshore conditions over an area of 8nm. Boats will be hosted in the marina of the Official Regatta Partner - The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club.

Regatta Chair and International Dragon Association Chair, Mr. Abraham Van Olphen, said: "We are thrilled to see the Dragon World Championship coming to Asia for the very first time. Hong Kong has a rich maritime heritage and a passionate sailing community.

We are confident that the 2027 Dragon Worlds will be an unforgettable celebration of sport, friendship, and international camaraderie, and we look forward showcasing this dynamic city to the global Dragon fleet. Together with our Official Regatta Hospitality Partner, the Hopewell Hotel, we are dedicated to providing exceptional hospitality and creating memorable experiences for every athlete and guest, ensuring that this momentous event is celebrated at the highest standards of excellence."

Competition at the highest level is guaranteed, with the fleet expected to include a spread of talented international sailors, from Olympians and America's Cup racers battling it out with the world's best Corinthian sailors.

Teams will also have the opportunity to compete in the inaugural Grade 1 Asia Pacific Dragon Championship which precedes the 2027 World Championship, 17 to 21 November 2026. Both events running back-to-back.

We look forward to welcoming sailors to Hong Kong and hosting participants from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong (China), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Monaco, The Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE and the USA.
