VRFish, the independent recreational fishing peak body in Victoria, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Executive Officer.
After a thorough recruitment process, VRFish Chair, Rob Loats today announced Anthony McGrath as the new VRFish Executive Officer.
"The VRFish recruitment panel and Board determined that Anthony had the calibre of skills and experience necessary to help drive VRFish's strategy and vision," said Mr. Loats.
"Anthony will be well-known to the Victorian fishing community through his work at the Victorian Fisheries Authority, and as a previous member of VRFish," said Mr. Loats.
Anthony has more than 20 years' experience across local and state government, including eight years at the Victorian Fisheries Authority. He is dedicated to championing the interests of recreational fishers across Victoria and has been responsible for delivering many of the recreational fishing election commitments and grants programs. More recently, Anthony has been working with Victoria's commercial fishers as the Abalone Fishery Manager.
Mr. McGrath said "I'm honoured to be able to build upon the great work achieved by VRFish over the past 30 years. More than a decade ago, VRFish invested in me through the Young Future Leader program and now I'm passionate about investing in our emerging leaders, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and support to tackle the issues affecting today's recreational fishers."
Anthony looks forward to working closely with the VRFish Board and membership to continue making fishing better for the more than 1-million Victorians that go fishing every year.
Anthony will commence his role as VRFish Executive Officer in early November.
