Topper Southwest Traveller Series at Brixham Yacht Club

by Brooke Browning 11 Sep 09:00 UTC 7 September 2025

When we arrived at Brixham in the morning the weather was thunder and lighting, so we were all a bit unsure if we were going to go out. After the race briefing the club house, we all lined up to launch.

Once we got to the racecourse we were sent in to race one. After a challenging battle, Charlie Mackenzie took first place closely followed by Edith Phillips in second and Brooke Browning in third. In the 4.2 Dylan Cullen took the win followed by Hattie Steele in second.

Race two got underway with a great battle in the 4.2 fleet for first place. Taking the win was Leo Phillips closely followed by Dylen Cullen. In the 5.3 Harry McLeod took first place, followed by Matteo Gerra in second and Charlie Mackenzie in third.

Race three started with some very tricky conditions, with very thick fog making it difficult to see. With two sailors battling for first place it was Charlie Mackenzie who took the win, and straight behind him was Brooke Browning followed by Edith Phillips. In the 4.2 fleet Leo Phillips took first followed by Josh Hocken and third place went to Hattie Steele.

After a postponement race four finally got underway with some very strong winds making staying upright tricky. George Reynolds took the win followed by Edith in second and Charlie in third place. In the 4.2 Dylan took first followed by Leo Phillips and in third place was Josh Hocken.

Overall Results: (top three)

5.3 fleet
1st Charlie Mackenzie
2nd Edith Phillips
3rd Brooke Browning

4.2 fleet
1st Dylan Cullen
2nd Leo Phillips
3rd Josh Hocken
