Today at 16:25, the CREDIT MUTUEL Class40 crossed the finish line in the prologue GLOBE40 in Cadiz. After waiting a few days in Lorient, the winners covered the miles of the course in 4 days 2 hours and 25 minutes at an average speed of 8.80kts on a the theoretical distance and 10,03kts in reality covered distance.

But the affair was not easy, first with a short but violent front to negotiate at Cape Finisterre and then with strong competition from the 3 other "scow" Class40s; just a few miles from the finish, the young Germans of NEXT GENERATION BOATING AROUND THE WORLD and the BELGIUM OCEAN RACING-CURIUM team completed the podium after being very threatening until the last mile. The "sharp" Class40s followed with an equally intense battle between the 5 competitors who were separated by a few miles after 4 days of racing.

The female crew of ENGIE - Dessine-moi la Hight Tech was also very biting; Aina Bauza and Axelle Pillain held their two direct competitors high in scow before dropping out a little at the end of the course, to be seen if there is a material reason for it.

The groups of the sharps held a gap of about thirty miles with the scows until the evening yesterday when the transition to a downwind phase with more wind favouring the last generations finally doubled the gap.

The prologue of the GLOBE40 would have played its full role allowing a first warm-up, very competitive nonetheless, while not putting the teams who have been preparing their participation for many months at excessive risk.

It should be remembered that this year the prologue has a coefficient of 0.5, stage 1 to Cape Verde a coefficient of 1 and 3 for the longest stage of the event from Cape Verde to Reunion.
