Solo Open and Spring Championship Re-sail at Hill Head Sailing Club

Hill Head SC Solo Open and Spring championship Re-sail © Colin Thorpe

This event was a reschedule of the Solo Spring Championship, and as such, Hill Head SC offered up the possibility to combine it with their Southern Series event.

19 sailors were greeted to a classic day on the Solent - a clear blue sky, plenty of sun, and breeze. The breeze gradually filled in from the south east, ranging from to 10-15 knots, parallel to the shore line, providing excellent champagne sailing on The Solent. Three races held back-to-back.

Some notable observations of the day:

  • Andy Le Grice in the class demo boat, taking a solid win in race 1
  • Mike Sims eventually overhauling Andy in race 2, to take the win
  • Mike stamping his authority in race 3, starting at the pin, and leading from start to finish
  • Long beats and downwinds in the sun
  • Champagne sailing and waves
  • Post race tea and cake, with one of the best views off The Solent

Thank you to the sponsors, Noble Marine and Rooster for the NSCA Super Series. And to SuperSpars / CB Trailer & Cover Store for the Southern Series.

Special thank you to all the visitors and members of the club for making the day such a great success.
