Due to overwhelming demand, organisers have unlocked additional outdoor space within Riverina Avenue for the Sydney Boat Show, taking place 14-17 August. The 63rd Melbourne Boat Show is coming together with an expanded, and almost full, footprint, with exciting new exhibitors joining the line-up. These include Marine Creations, Nautique Central, Rolco Marine, Purecraft and several more. Also, several top fishing/tackle providers. In terms of Activations, favourites like the Tall Ships, Rig Rundown, Seaweed Sally, Seafood Cooking, and the SuperTank, will all be back, along with new activations including an off-the-beach sailing display, a roaming Boat Launcher, a working Pilot Boat, and more. The Boating Industry Association announced a significant funding agreement with the Queensland Government to deliver a major boost to the Marine Jobs program across the Sunshine State. BIA CEO Andrew Fielding said this milestone funding agreement would enable Marine Jobs to accelerate in Queensland which is home to the largest concentration of marine businesses in Australia. "We will use this State Government support to connect more opportunities with key stakeholders in the marine sector, to attend more events and to encourage more people, especially young people, to commit to considering a career in Queensland's marine industry," Fielding said.

The Australian Commercial Marine Conference returns to Sydney on 31 July. Now in its second consecutive year, the event follows strong industry demand for a dedicated national forum to address sector challenges, explore insights from leading authorities and to strengthen connections across Australia's commercial marine sector. Hosted by the Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG), the conference will bring together ferry and tourism vessel operators, marine technology innovators, naval architects and designers, shipbuilders, component manufacturers and suppliers, as well as safety regulators and policymakers.

Marina Monfalcone, North Italy, saw sports superstars gather to open the Red Bull Sailing Academy, marking the beginning of a new era in the sport. Designed to nurture the next generation of elite sailors, foil- and kitesurfers, the Academy aims to inspire future champions and create a pathway to the world's most prestigious competitions. Marina Monfalcone welcomed an impressive crowd of sailing fans and visitors who came to witness the launch of one of the most advanced training centres in Europe.

Improved weather conditions across New South Wales in June saw large numbers of boaters take to the state's waterways, with Marine Rescue NSW radio operators keeping watch over 22,100 people on board vessels that had logged on with the Service. "Safety is paramount on the water. By Logging On, the skippers of those vessels ensured that our dedicated volunteers were monitoring their safe return," said Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Alex Barrell.

Maintaining the safety at sea thread, Mark Jardine, Managing Editor of Sail-World talked to Jack Sharland of the UK Westcom Group.
