Slated for Friday 12th to Sunday 14th September, the Carey Olsen Jersey Regatta is open for entries. This, the 27th edition of the combined clubs' flagship event is the sixth to be kindly sponsored by offshore law firm Carey Olsen.

Now in its 12th year, the GBR IRC Channel Islands Championships, the top series for competitive yacht racing under the International Rating Certificate, with additional prizes provided by leading sail-maker and sailing wear company North Sails, is the star feature of the cruiser/racer programme. All IRC-rated boats will be, automatically, entered for this highly contested title with international and inter-island rivalry raising the stakes.

This exciting three-day event is open to local and visiting boats, alike, with a full programme for cruiser/racer, Quarter Ton, sportsboat, dayboat, dinghy and sport catamaran classes. It opens with an 'icebreaker' reception on the Thursday evening with the cruiser/racer programme getting under way on Friday morning, the 'small boat' fleet coming to the line in the afternoon.

Friday's races are stand-alone with their own trophies and prizes, independent of the main programme, providing a great opportunity to warm up and get to know the competition and the vagaries of the Island's tides. For the Regatta-proper, all races held on Saturday and Sunday count towards each day's prizes and trophies and the coveted overall class championship prizes.

The cruiser classes will be racing over 'round the cans' courses in the stunning natural arena of St Aubin's Bay and adjacent coastal waters whilst the 'small boat' classes will be racing over laid courses within the Bay. Race management for the 'big' and 'small' boat fleets will be under the control of independent race committees.

Ashore, everyone will have plenty of opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy the yacht clubs' warm hospitality, following the rigours of each day. Whilst the Regatta is a full-on experience, those wishing to explore the Island will find a mine of information on VisitJersey.

The cost of post-racing dining in the yacht clubs, on Friday and Sunday, is included in the entry fee whilst the traditional Regatta supper/party, open to competitors and guests, is charged separately. Berthing during the week leading to the Regatta is provided free of charge, courtesy of Jersey Marinas.

Chairman Bill Harris said that the Jersey Regatta has developed a great reputation over the past twenty-six years and that the organisers are well on track to produce another exceptional event. He expressed the clubs' sincere appreciation for the sponsorship and support received from Carey Olsen, Jersey Marinas and North Sails.

Boats may enter online at www.jerseyregatta.com up to the closing date, Tuesday 9th September, but 'early birds' signing up no later than Friday 29th August will enjoy discounted fees.

For further information, contact the Regatta Office either by e-mail: or telephone: + 44 (0) 1534 732229.
