The Mediterranean superyacht racing season will kick off on 27th May with the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, organised annually by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda since 2008 and supported by title sponsor Giorgio Armani since 2022.

The Southern Wind RendezVous & Trophy, dedicated to sailing yachts from the Southern Wind yard and now in its 19th edition, will once again be an integral part of the event - this year hosting its largest fleet yet, with 12 yachts gathering in Porto Cervo.

A total of 15 superyachts are set to line the quays for the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, grouped into different classes according to their technical specifications and performance profiles. Among this impressive fleet, Sørvind by Giorgio Armani stands out - a Southern Wind 105 chartered by the fashion house to place them right at the heart of the action on the water. This choice reflects Giorgio Armani's deep passion for the sea and the sport of sailing. Sørvind by Giorgio Armani will race in the Corinthian Spirit Class, one of the new initiatives introduced for the 2025 event, designed to promote competitive participation for superyacht owners who prefer to maintain their cruising setup.

Five Southern Wind yachts will take part under this popular formula which balances performance and with the pleasure of sailing. Racing will begin on 28th May and continue through 31st May, with the fleet navigating around the spectacular scenery of the La Maddalena archipelago. A further five Southern Wind Yachts will follow the RendezVous programme, designed by the shipyard to celebrate the pure joy of sailing in a relaxed and sociable setting. Meanwhile, the remainder of the fleet will vie for the prestigious Silver Jubilee Cup, claimed last year by the Swan 115 Moat, which is returning to defend her title. Also joining the celebration at the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta is Bullitt, the Wally 93 owned by YCCS Commodore Andrea Recordati.

As always, a rich programme of events will also be held ashore. On the evening of 27th May, the panoramic terrace at the YCCS will be the location for the traditional welcome cocktail, while the Giorgio Armani pop-up store will be open every day in the adjoining Piazza Azzurra, featuring the Giorgio Armani Mare collection. The pop-up store will also welcome all of the participants each morning from 9 a.m. for an "All Together Breakfast" before leaving the docks for the starting line. The Southern Wind owners, meanwhile, will be treated to a private dinner organised by the shipyard on their return from the first day of racing.

On the evening of 29th May, the YCCS restaurant will host the Giorgio Armani Owners' Dinner, an event reserved for owners, their guests, and those of the title sponsor. For the occasion a special "four hands" menu will be curated by resident Chef Alessio Savona in collaboration with Massimo Tringali, Michelin-starred chef of the Armani Ristorante in Paris. The Sunset Party on the beach, meanwhile, will be the highlight for all participants on the evening of 30th May, prior to the final day of racing.

Racing in the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta and the Southern Wind RendezVous & Trophy will conclude on Saturday 31st May, followed by the prize-giving ceremony in Piazza Azzurra, in front of the YCCS.
