RS300s Harken RS Sprints at Rutland Sailing Club, Rooster National Tour Event 2

by Neal Gibson 9 May 14:54 UTC 26-27 April 2025

A light wind forecast for the Saturday with the promise of more on Sunday drew a crowd of 11 RS300s for the Harken RS Sprint championships at Rutland over the weekend of the 26th and 27th of April.

Saturday's racing was all about head out the boat and making an educated judgement on what the wind was going to do. A few oscillating moments led to plenty of line bias swapping throughout the day. Stephen Jones had the most consistent day with 4 bullets and 2 seconds. Tom Moore laid down an early marker with a win in race followed by some strong 2nd places.

Sunday dawned with similar wind but from a different direction. After a little delay racing got under way. Sunday's wind was a lot more consistent in strength but not directions so multiple places changes throughout the day's races. This brought some new faces to the winner's step. Oli Scrimshaw won race 7. Stephen Jones took the win in race 8, followed by Tom Moore winning races 9 and 10, before Harry McVicar found his stride to win the final 2 races.

In the end Stephen Jones was a worthy winner. Thank you to Rutland Sailing Club for running a great weekend. Thank you to Harken for their generous event sponsorship. Thank you to Rooster for sponsoring the RS300 National Tour.

Our next event is POSH this weekend 10-11 May. More information here.
