Easter Regatta at Netley Sailing Club

by Vicky Taylor 1 May 15:28 UTC 19-21 April 2025

Netley Sailing Club was buzzing with energy as campers filled the grounds and the refurbished bar for the opening night of the Easter Regatta.

A fabulous turnout of 56 boats entered, with 37 boats in the slow handicap fleet, dominated by the 8 strong Mirror fleet of highly talented adults and children, including some visitors preparing for the Nationals being held at the club in August.

The 19 boat Fast Handicap fleet also included parents with their children, but in the RS200s, Buzz and two 505s! Southampton Water provided fantastic conditions for the event with good breeze and competitive racing on all three days. It was great to see so many new members out racing and some younger faces taking advantage of the new reduced cost young people's membership.

The sun was shining and the club bar, balcony and field were enjoyed by everyone, particularly the younger members who participated in an energetic Easter Treasure Hunt on Sunday.

Overall Results:

Slow Handicap
1st Ben McGrane & Evelyn McGrane, Mirror
2nd Andrew Rawson, RS Aero
3rd James Steward & Rhys Stewart, Mirror

Fast Handicap
1st Nick Sandison, RS 100 8.4
2nd Duncan Barr & Cameron Barr, 505
