The NSW Mulloway Harvest Strategy Working Group has developed a draft harvest strategy for Mulloway in NSW waters - and we want your feedback!
Harvest strategies are a best-practice tool for fisheries management used around the world. We have been developing harvest strategies for a number of our key species to improve assessment and performance of our fisheries - for everyone into the future.
The NSW Mulloway Harvest Strategy will provide a best-practice management framework including objectives, monitoring arrangements and decision rules for managing recreational and commercial harvest, which has been designed to continue rebuilding Mulloway stock biomass to target levels.
As improving Mulloway data is important, and there are different ways that catch can be managed under the harvest strategy, feedback is also sought on management options to improve assessment data and manage harvest levels determined under the harvest strategy.
You can provide your feedback on the Draft Strategy and management options here. Submissions close on 25 May 2025.
So, what is a harvest strategy?
A harvest strategy is designed to support evidence-based decisions for changing harvest levels. A feature video explaining harvest strategies can be seen below.
