Hyde Sails, in partnership with renowned offshore sailor Conrad Humphreys and leading sailcloth manufacturer Dimension-Polyant, is proud to announce a brand new partnership. This collaboration brings together Hyde's world-class expertise in sail design to equip Conrad's historical vessel, Bounty with a new set of sails.
Over the winter period, Conrad has been developing a new "Cutter" rig and trialling it on Bounty (the vessel featured in Channel 4's Mutiny) ahead of rediscovering another historical maritime voyage. Conrad reached out to Hyde at METSTRADE to see if they would come onboard to partner with his latest venture.
To meet the demanding conditions of the expedition, Hyde Sails and Dimension-Polyant have designed a bespoke sail package to ensure durability, performance, and efficiency. This week, Conrad has been out testing the new sails in Plymouth Sound.
Conrad Humphreys, a veteran of three round-the-world races including the Vendée Globe said "I'm delighted that Hyde sails have joined our team as we prepare to re-discover another remarkable historical voyage. This week we have been out testing in Plymouth Sound and the new Hyde sails are brilliant. We've learnt a huge amount working with the design team to modify Bounty from a lugger to a cutter rig.
"We're thrilled to collaborate with Conrad Humphreys and Dimension-Polyant on this extraordinary project," said Charlie Bird, CEO at Hyde Sails. "The combination of Hyde's craftsmanship, Dimension-Polyant's innovative materials, and Conrad's unparalleled experience has resulted in a sail package that should meet the demands of Conrad's new adventures."
