All eyes were on the rather chilly looking forecast for the latest round of RS Class Association supported training at the Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club with Ollie Groves and Esther Parkhurst. Thankfully the visibility and wind filled in on the Saturday and there was only a dusting of snow on Sunday morning for the RS200 and RS400 crews.

With a light to gentle breeze on Saturday the focus was on downwind tactics and leeward mark roundings. After a 'gut buster' start to warm everyone up short course with a downwind start was set up to put the theory into practice. There were dramatic scenes as the fleet emerged from the fog at the leeward mark with boats competing for the best rounding.

Sunday bought a more gusty morning (F2-5) and a focus on upwind tactics, boat positioning and gate starts. Short sharp racing allowed the fleet to practice the upwind and downwind techniques with boats in close proximity all day.

A big thank you to Ollie and Esther and all the volunteers and parents who made the weekend possible.

The next RS Class association training with Ollie and Esther is the RS400 weekend on 1st-2nd March 2025: www.rs400.org/index.asp?fleet=RS400&pg=eventsgrid&uid=2620&detailevent=1
