Bayliss Boatworks new construction updates

With the bridge console faired, our paint team is steadily progressing with priming and sanding, getting Big Deal ready for its scheduled move to the paint bay in early March. Everett Nautical has returned to apply faux teak to the transom and bridge cap, enhancing the vessels sleek, timeless aesthetic.

Inside, the interior carpentry crew has been busy installing veneers in the salon and assembling various cabinetry pieces in the lower accommodations, including the bunk in the Master Stateroom.

The bridge buildout on Tarheel is progressing smoothly, with fabrication of the port and starboard seating well underway. In the cockpit, the exterior carpentry team has been glassing the bridge wings and washboards, ensuring both structural integrity and a flawless finish.

Meanwhile, our mechanical and electrical teams have made significant strides, installing the galley sink plumbing, salon drain manifolds, forward fuel tank plumbing, and bilge/sump discharges. In the salon, MTU bridge and tower cables have been run, along with the generator and wire connections to the main panel, ensuring all systems are integrated and ready for the next stages of construction.

In early January, Mama Seata was moved outdoors for the installation of her forward fuel tank. Once the tank was securely placed, the hull carpentry team resumed work, installing structural decking over the tank to form a solid base for the machine tunnel decking.
In the engine room, the battery boxes and generator shelves have been glassed in place. With Awlfair now applied, our paint crew has begun sanding in preparation for the next finishing stage.

The planking process on Bayliss 64s hull bottom is complete! With this phase finished, our hull carpentry team is shifting focus to the hull sides.

To prepare for this next step, long, flexible wooden battens are being cut and installed. These battens help shape the hull and ensure precise plank alignment, creating the smooth, flowing lines that define Bayliss craftsmanship.

Looking ahead: once the final hull plank is installed, our team will mark the occasion with the traditional whiskey plank celebration!
