Zenaq Tobizo TC 80 200 Type R Rod Review

The Zenaq Tobizo Type R is the pinnacle rod from Zenaq for offshore casting, combining decades of design, research and construction experience. The designers incorporate this knowledge and experience to create rods which give the angler the best possible chance to land the fish of their dreams! They combine long cast ability, fish fighting power, precise lure manipulation and angler comfort all in the one package.

For a heavy-class GT casting rod, the TC80-200G Type R still has a nice elastic tip excellent for casting big lures all day. It'll work stickbaits and poppers with ease up to 200g with a max cast weight of 230g. The bottom end of this rod is extremely powerful, stopping fish in their tracks. This power in the butt also gives it the ability to lift stubborn beast of the bottom without putting too much strain on the angler. The Tobizo TC80-200G has been designed specifically for chasing XOS GT but is also great for species like large tuna, giant kingfish and Spanish mackerel when they're eating bigger baits. The TC80-200G Type R will best suit either a Shimano 18000 or Daiwa 18000 size reel body.

The Zenaq Tobizo Type R rods are the flagship models of the range, featuring the Zenaq Hexagon reel seat. This reel seat uses a composite of high strength and long-fibre carbon from Toray in a special molding machine to produce reel seats that can hold a large reel firmly without wobbling. The Hexagon reel seat also has the same shape as Zenaq's hexagon grips and a firm rubber outer that makes it comfortable to use for long sessions and does not loosen during hard fishing. Type R rods feature single wrapped guides, utilizing high quality thread. Less binding gives a sharper and more responsive action from the rod for better feel, cast performance and lure action.

The rod has a blend of the best Fuji guides from the Titanium SiC RV guide for the stripper, followed by Stainless frame SiC guides in the middle for strength and Titanium Sic K guide as the tip assist (to minimize tip wraps) and lastly Titanium SiC tip guide. The rods guide setup and size has been carefully planned to allow the passage of bulky leaders and knots up to 250lb shock leaders.
