Spectacular start with the favourites showing their cards

The Canarian and reigning world champion Marta Mansito-Valverde and Hong Kong's Margaux Nguyen-Minh lead the way with 8 and 9 respectively. Provisional bronze with 10 points for the Dutch Felix Mulder and the Croatian Alexandra Ivanova.

The XVII Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy couldn't have had a better start. A spectacular day with a stable wind of 315º with 20 knots of intensity, although in the second race the gusts exceeded 25 knots. All this has allowed the race committee to close the day fulfilling the established programme of three races, despite the complicated conditions of the day.

The favourites have fulfilled in a very demanding racing area, showing their cards and credentials to be on the podium next Sunday. Thus, the Canarian and reigning world champion, Marta Mansito-Valverde (RCN Gran Canaria) has shown her best version in the yellow group. The Canarian has closed the day 3-4-1, adding 8 points that have served her to sleep today leader in the event organised by the RCN of Torrevieja.

Hong Kong's Margaux Nguyen-Minh (Aberdeen BC / Sopraventus), also in the yellow fleet, placed second, first in the men's category, thanks to a 2-1-6 record, scoring 9 points. Both sailors have been very consistent and confident in the three races completed.

Behind the fleet equality has been the general tone, proof of this is the tie at 10 points in the provisional third place, which is currently occupied by the Dutchman Felix Mulder and the Croatian Alexandra Ivanova, both have competed in the White group. The first of them and thanks to this partial triumph in the second race allows him to be ahead. In the next two races he closed with numbers 7 and 2. The female, on the other hand, started with a 3rd place, to move to a 2nd and concluding with a 5th place in the last race.

This equality is also reflected in the top ten with 1 point difference in the first (5th to 8th places) and 2 points difference in the second (9th and 10th), with some ties. Xuacu Gracía (CN S'Arenal) is 5th with 11 points, followed by the British Finn Raus (Hayling Island SC) with 12; Juan Lleonart (CN El Balís) and Milosz Ciechanowicz (Gizycka Grupa Regatowa), 7th and 8th with 13 points respectively, and closing the top ten are the Swedish Alexander Forssén and the Polish Kajetan Liszewski, both with 15 points.

In local key, Izan Rogel (RCN Torrevieja) is the best classified in this provisional table, after the start of the competition. The Torrevieja sailor has a best score of 11, placing him in fourth place in the U13 class.
