In tough conditions after passing the Cape of Good Hope, Léonard Legrand took out the drone to capture these breathtaking images of Sodebo Ultim 3 on its now well progressed Jules Verne record attempt.

The video was shot as Sodebo entered into the Indian Ocean where the giant trimaran is sailing at more than 30 knots in rough seas.

Since leaving Ouessant on December 20 at 9:34 p.m., Thomas Coville, Frédéric Denis, Pierre Leboucher, Léonard Legrand, Guillaume Pirouelle, Benjamin Schwartz and Nicolas Troussel have already covered 8,277 miles (15,329 km).

After crossing the equator on Thursday 26 December with a lead of 15 hours and 37 minutes, Sodebo Ultim 3 increased this lead with a very fine descent of the South Atlantic. As they passed the Cape of Good Hope, the seven men on board were 1 day, 4 hours and 17 minutes faster than Idec Sport, the holder of the Jules Verne Trophy.

To seize the Jules Verne Trophy, held since January 26, 2017 by Idec Sport in 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds, Sodebo Ultim 3 must cross the line at Ouessant before Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 9:05 p.m. (French time, subject to validation by the WSSRC).
