2024 Petersville Regatta at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron - Day 2

The cruising division made its way down to Mt Martha on the second day of the Petersville Regatta, ticking off their long course race, while the sportsboat division knocked off another two races for the event.

In the long race, the cruising fleet was met with variable and bumpy conditions for what would be a 23-mile race.

"We had anything from 9-26 knots out there, but we really enjoyed it and we went well," BKT JAMHU's Ken Christensen said.

Christensen, a seasoned veteran at the Petersville Regatta, said he regularly competed in the event after making his way down the coast during the Cock of the Bay.

"We've done it for a number of years now, we've won it a couple of times, the boat loves the flat water," he said.

The sportsboat division completed another two races on the second day of the event, however with 90-degree shifts during the start of the second race, the race committee abandoned before beginning again on a new racetrack.

Melges24 skipper Andrew Colliver said the conditions experienced on Day 2 were superb for sportsboat racing.

"Southerly sea breezes we get nice flat water which suits the sportsboats especially well," he said.

All divisions are set to complete short course races on Day 3 followed by a short break before another twilight race in the evening.
