Youth Training Camps to be held in Florida and California in late November

US Sailing invites youth racing sailors in the youth worlds classes: ILCA 6, Formula Kite, iQFOiL, i420, 29er, and Nacra 15 to apply for an invitation to the US Sailing Youth Racing Camps presented by Risk Strategies.

For the first time, this annual Thanksgiving training camp will be available on both coasts, with the East Coast Camp taking place November 23-26 at Miami Yacht Club in Miami, FL, and the West Coast Camp taking place November 25-27 at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach, CA.

"We are excited to add the 2028 Olympic venue in Long Beach to the fall camp schedule and to get more sailors and coaches involved on both coasts" said John Pearce, US Sailing Youth Racing Director.

The 2024 US Sailing Youth Racing Camps are presented by Risk Strategies, Official Marine Insurance Partner of US Sailing and the US Sailing Team. "Continuing our support of the US Sailing Team at all levels, Risk Strategies is thrilled to also support the next generation of sailors at the upcoming high level youth training camps in Long Beach, CA and Miami, FL." said Whitney Peterson, Risk Strategies Director of Marketing and Partnerships.

The format of the camps brings together top youth sailors and coaches in a collaborative and competitive environment, promoting information sharing and resource optimization. Sailors attend with their own team/regional program coach, and US Sailing coaches lead training for the athletes and coaches in each Class. This hybrid format combines a regatta competition environment with collaborative training, allowing sailors and coaches to try new things and get immediate feedback.

Interested sailors can review the Notice of Clinic on the event registration pages for details. Over 100 sailors have earned an invitation based on their performance at major regattas this year, such as US Sailing Championships. Sailors who have yet to qualify with recent performance criteria, as well as international sailors, may request an invitation via this link by October 1st to be considered for a discretionary invitation.

"It is ambitious to host two simultaneous camps this year, but we aim to bring top level learning and competition to each region and have shifted the schedule so families can enjoy their holiday," remarks Phil Muller, Youth Performance Manager at US Sailing.

"This annual camp is our opportunity to come together as a nation and push the level of focus and training to make gains in upcoming international competition. I'm eager to announce our coaching and guest speakers roster in the coming weeks," says Muller. "This year we are thrilled to support foiling classes, iQFOiL and Formula Kite, in Miami and Long Beach. Coming off the back of a bronze medal in boys iQ FOiL at the Youth World Championships this past summer, we want to keep the momentum of these foiling classes."

"Miami Yacht Club is a familiar venue and has been an excellent host of this annual camp and most recently our U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Sailing in early 2024," added Muller. "Alamitos Bay Yacht Club is a great collaborator with US Sailing and a strong supporter of high-level racing on the west coast, and we are thrilled to expand our clinic schedule to their venue this fall."
